Rooftop ponderings

Tonight we are tired but all is well. We got to Guatemala without any problems and are now relaxing and listening to worship music on the roof of the house we are staying at. I was really impressed with The whole team when we were at the zoo. It's inspiring to watch them struggle through their Spanish in order to build relationships with the women and children from the shelter. Many of the team have headed to bed but a few of us are fighting to stay up a little longer so that we don't wake up too early in the morning. Tomorrow we head to the women's shelter for some hard work and a chance to play with the kids and get to know the women a little better.

Happy Fathers Day from Texas

Goo morning!!!! A four hour flight through the middle of the night has left most of the team really tired this morning. A couple of the girls have even spread out a blanket on the airport floor. Here in about an hour we will be loading Back up for the second leg of our journey. I all goes as planned we will be in Guatemala by noon and to the zoo with the women and children from El Refugio around 1.

Pray for rest in the flight and that we can be a blessing to these ladies in the midst oh the culture shock. I'm not sure when I will have access to the Internet again so you might not hear from me for a couple of days. Assume that no news is good news.

To all the dads whose kids are with us today. HAPPY FATHERS DAY.

On the road

The journey begins.... We are on our way to Portland. The first leg of a journey that will take us about 18 hours. Thank you to all of you who are praying for us.

I will do my best to update this as often as possible. A lot depends on Internet access but I'll do my best.

Personally I am really excited for everyone that's going especially for those who this is their first trip like this. I love to watch as jaws drop and world views are transformed. Be in prayer for those transitions that will hit hard tomorrow afternoon.

Family and Friends: This is a blog that's main purpose is to keep you all informed about what we as the College Place Presbyterian Church Guatemala Mission Team is doing. I will be updating this blog as much as possible while we are in Guatemala and would invite you to follow along and pray for the specific situations that we find ourselves in. Obviously because of places that we are going, I will not be able to update you on a daily basis, but I will be sure to communicate major milestones along the way.
